Sony define SBH54 as Stereo Bluetooth Headset, while it has other function to be used as a bluetooth handset.
In Sonymobile website, Sony promote this as a versatile headset with handset function.
With this bluetooth device you can take and make calls, see messages, play your music from your mobilephones and FM radio (if you connect the included wired headphones).
As with new devices these days, Sony also follow the the trends by only supplying as minimum as posible.

Again this is an improvement over the SBH52, and Sony make it more smaller.
The color is very nice (I have the gray color to match my iPhone 6s Plus.
While this is more nicer to me, some might disagree, but the real improvement for me is now this handset can vibrate to notify there is an incoming calls. The capability to be used as a handset with vibrate function is very helpful especially in a meeting when I put both my phones in my bag.
Well what can I say, apps only supported for Android, no iOS support.
The good thing is, this is a bluetooth device meaning you don't need apps to use it.
For me the app is needed for updating the firmware.
With support for HD voice, the other party sound is clear, while the mic also very sensitive so the other party can really hear my voice. This is based on my usage of SBH54 as a handset.
When used as FM Radio in my office, the FM reception quality can be categorized as OK for a small FM radio.

When doing pairing with iPhone and iPod nano, I have trouble using SBH54 as a handset when there is a call.
But this does not have any issues if I paired it both to mobilephones.
