Today Ralph Tampubolon from Most Radio 105.8FM, played Jack & Diane by John Mellencamp (from album American Fool) while he was using his stage name John Cougar. This song reminds me that I need to add John Mellencamp's Greatest Hits into my iPod Classic as all the collection wouldn't fit into the space I have. He is still active despite his age (67 years), his last studio album was released early December 2018.

Born October 7, 1951 in Seymour, Indiana. John Mellencamp fell in love with music at an early age and was gigging in local bars and fronting a soul band by the time he was 14. His professional music career began in earnest in 1976 when MCA Records released his first album, The Chestnut Street Incident. His manager dubbed him Johnny Cougar out of his belief that nobody would buy a record by anybody named Mellencamp. Then he use John Cougar as his stage name, and later on his 7th album Uh-Huh he use John Cougar Mellencamp, in 90s of course, reclaimed his birth name as his public name.

Bruce Springsteen’s first new studio album in five years takes his music to a new place, drawing inspiration in part from the Southern California pop records of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. The album was recorded primarily at Springsteen’s home studio in New Jersey, with additional recording in California and New York. Columbia Records will release Springsteen’s 19th studio album on June 14. ‘Western Stars’ will be available for pre-order on Friday, April 26.

“This record is a return to my solo recordings featuring character driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements," says Springsteen. "It's a jewel box of a record."

The 13 tracks of ‘Western Stars’ encompass a sweeping range of American themes, of highways and desert spaces, of isolation and community and the permanence of home and hope.
