Stray Cats are an American rockabilly band formed in 1979 by guitarist and vocalist Brian Setzer, double bassist Lee Rocker, and drummer Slim Jim Phantom in the Long Island town of Massapequa, New York. The group had numerous hit singles in the UK, Australia, Canada and the U.S. including "Stray Cat Strut", "(She's) Sexy + 17", "Look at That Cadillac," "I Won't Stand in Your Way", "Bring it Back Again", and "Rock This Town", which the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has listed as one of the songs that shaped rock and roll. As the most successful of the three Stray Cats, guitarist, vocalist and front man Brian Setzer didn’t need to reform the band to celebrate its 40th anniversary. And if you want to get picky, they haven’t been a working unit for 40 years anyway, since Setzer, bassist Lee Rocker and cocktail-kit drummer Slim Jim Phantom have all spent most of the last few decades in various solo projects. This is actually the threesome’s first album of original material in 26 years, making it more of a reunion than an anniversary.. |
Enjoy.
