Cisco and Microsoft
It's happening, the rumor gets hotter and hotter.
The most sacred chat application will now be available on Android.
Until today I can't managed to find these information from Samsung official website. But this is what those 2 websites above write Press Release from Samsung Africa.
Samsung to offer BBM in Samsung App store for all GALAXY Smartphone devices
5th August, 2013 – Today, Samsung has announced that the upcoming BBM™ app will be available in the Google Play and
the Samsung App store soon and available to all Samsung GALAXY smartphone consumers across Africa.
Says George Ferreira, VP and COO of Samsung Electronics Africa: “At Samsung we are all about collaboration, innovation and driving consumer experience based on choice, value and customisation to suit every lifestyle. As such, bringing a top tier messaging service such as BBM is another way that we are expanding the catalogue of our messaging services and offering customers an amazing way to stay instantly connected with colleagues, friends and family.”
BBM will form part of Samsung Messaging Hub as a complementary addition to the current slate of propriety and third party messaging services that Samsung customers enjoy – all aimed at empowering consumers to connect with each other in better ways using text messaging. Offering BBM on GALAXY smartphones in Africa will give Samsung customers access to the BBM social network, including BBM chats, multi-person chats and and BBM Groups, which allows BBM customers to create groups of up to 30 people, as well as the ability to share photos and voice notes.
“It is important to strike a balance between developing high-tech smartphones that carry brands in to the future and creating a sustainable ecosystem that primarily supports the needs of consumers that use these devices. Value added services are considered a prerequisite in the fast-paced, challenging environment that exists today and as a result, we will continue to drive
innovation through our smart hub functionalities to ensure our consumers have the choice which they desire,” concludes Ferreira.
“BBM provides one of the best and most robust mobile messaging experiences today. BBM has always set the standard for mobile instant messaging and we are thrilled to bring this experience to Samsung customers across Africa,” said Andrew Bocking, Executive Vice President BBM at BlackBerry. “BBM is loved by people who rely on fast, trusted messaging, along with the immediacy that our delivered and read statuses bring. Samsung customers will soon join the BBM nation in its love of the “D” and “R” notifications.”
The companies have also agreed to joint marketing efforts to showcase BBM for Android to customers and to mobile users across Africa.
At launch, the app will be available for download from the Samsung and Google Play Stores, at no cost.
Interesting article that I read from New York Times, and it goes like this:
At first glance, to most consumers, the Apple iPad and Microsoft Surface RT tablet computer look somewhat similar. They are both rectangular, have crisp screens and can boast a slick and clean design interface.
Yet on Thursday Microsoft announced that it was taking a $900 million write-down to reflect unsold inventory of the Surface RT. That’s a stark comparison to Apple’s iPad, which continues to break record sales and has sold more than 100 million devices.
So why is one still succeeding while the other has failed? I have a theory. But it begins with a story.
..... the rest you can read from http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/07/19/why-the-surface-rt-failed-and-the-ipad-did-not/
Love you, hate you, love you, hate you ... Microsoft oh Microsoft.
This review will be primary in text so no more pictures, just enjoy my previous post.
One sentence for HP ElitePad 900 G1 should be The Gadget for Road Warrior period.
Let's start with the Spec:
First about display, it sports 1280x800 resolution inside a 10.1 inch and has capacitive 5 points touch screen equipped with Accelerometer, too bad it does not use Wacom digitizer as in Microsoft Surface Pro. Damn! Like most Windows 8 tablet this Road Warrior gadget also use Integrated Intel HD as it's graphic engine with Intel Atom Z2760 1.8 GHz and the best thing is: It Runs Windows 8 Pro. YES Windows 8 Professional, so it can join your Active Directory. And you'll love the battery as it will support your activities for up to 8 hours without having to look around for an electricity outlet.
And for your connectivity it also equipped with Bluetooth, NFC, Wireless and you can insert your Micro GSM card, so this will give you freedom from carrying USB Modem or MiFi. Like I said this is designed for Road Warrior.
The bad thing about this tablet is without a docking, it's only a tablet, you can't plug-in your USB disk although you can add additional memory by sticking in a MicroSDHC just beside your Micro GSM card.
And for picture lovers, ElitePad 900 is equipped with Integrated 1080p with LED (front-facing); 8MP (rear facing). By the way, did I mention about the Corning Gorilla Glass 2 that will protect the screen from scratches?
To make your life complete, HP does not forget to equipped with some additional extra accessories like:
- battery jacket that will add power up to 18 hours and 2 USB ports, HDMI and SDCard
- smart jackets that also sports a full-size keyboard plus 2 USB ports and SDCard
- dongles for display
And the conclusion is:
For you all Road Warrior out there, get a line, get this gorgeous hybrid tablet that runs full Windows 8 Pro that will blow iPad users.
So I lied, I'll add pictures.
Need another one for my beloved ex girl-friend that will be used for teaching Math in High-School. Hoping HP will tell Santa and put ElitePad in my big sock below my windows.
Just got the device, installing Office Pro ....
Just for teaser, will be right back, sorry holiday mode ...

Surface Pro: at last...
Before I start, please forgive my picture quality as I'm not a photographer. I also would like to thank my friends (ET for ordering from US, KB for address in SG, and BT for hand-carrying to ID) that help me get a hold of this awesome gadget.
My Surface Pro got an Intel Core i5-3317U 1.7Ghz processor with 4 GB of RAM, 128GB SSD. It includes dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and I miss built-in cellular radio like Samsung Ativ SmatPC. There are two cameras included that both shoot 720p HD video, these are definitely not intended for anything other than video chat, which is really the only thing you should be using tablet cameras for anyway.
Size does matter, the Surface Pro dimension is 27.45 x 17.3 x 1.35cm (10.81 x 6.81 x 0.53 inches). That’s a bit thicker than the "stupid" Surface RT, but still the smallest, coolest Core i5 tablet around at only 910grams (2lbs), but heavier compared to consumer tablets running slower CPUs and less-capable operating systems.
You’ve also got some useful ports including USB 3.0, Mini-Display Port for connecting a second monitor, 3.5mm audio out, and a MicroSDXC slot for adding more storage.
The 10.6″ screen runs at 1920 x 1080 with a 208 ppi pixel density and wide IPS viewing angles. The Surface Pro is designed with a 16:9 screen aspect ratio which matches it’s 1080p resolution. This is great for watching movies, and it also works really well for split-screen usage of multiple apps.
In portrait mode, of course usage is going to be different with the very tall 9:16 aspect ratio. You can do split screen mode for multiple apps this way, but most of them have specific portrait designs that work quite well. Portrait mode is best for reading long web pages, emails, etc. since the shorter width means your eye doesn’t have to travel as far left to right and you have a much taller area which requires less vertical scrolling. In other words, content is easier to read in portrait mode. But still it is much better compared to other tablet with 11.6" screen, believe me it is fun to write using the pen in OneNote 2013.
The VaporMg casing with it's kick-stand when you put your Surface Pro in the meeting table will other notebook looks so yesterday. The only bad thing is you can’t customize the display angle when using the kick-stand.
The Surface Pro does not come with any keyboard or cover, but you might want to buy one to go along with it, It share the same keyboard covers available for the Surface RT, so you’ve got a good selection to choose from. I've got Type Cover for my Surface Pro and the keyboard is fantastic, I only thing that I missed is the Type Cover does not have TrackPoint.
Get your own Surface Pro.

For the first time Microsoft use their own brand to market their latest tablet, why?

Windows 8 slows PC shipments
Can we blame Microsoft for slowing down PC Shipments?

But don't worry Microsoft, I'm still ordering my Surface Pro.
Apple release iOS 6.1.3
Apple has reportedly released iOS 6.1.3 which fixes a lock screen passcode bug and brings improvements to Maps in Japan.
This update contains improvements and other bug fixes including:
● Fixes a bug that could allow someone to bypass the passcode and access the Phone app
